STATEMENT



Shortly after noon Wednesday, May 5, 2004, the UNCW Police Department responded to Cornerstone Hall regarding the death of a student that appears to be the result of unnatural causes, possibly a homicide. A student is in police custody. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the investigation. More information including the names of individuals involved is expected to be released later, pending notification of next of kin. This is an ongoing investigation and information will be released as determined to be appropriate by the course of the investigation.
