UNCW Hosts Ninth Nurses’ Day Celebration for Region

Wilmington, N.C.—A celebration honoring 119 nurses for their contributions in nursing education, practice, research and service in this region will be held Thursday, May 6 at Warwick Center at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

This ninth annual event is cosponsored by the University of North Carolina at Wilmington School of Nursing and District 22 of the North Carolina Nurses' Association. It will bring 400 nurses, friends and employers to the UNCW campus and is one of the largest hosted within the state of North Carolina.

Each nurse being honored receives a certificate, a floral stem and public recognition through a presentation highlighting each nurse and where he or she works.



The celebration includes a pre-dinner social hour from 6 to 6:45 p.m. The dinner and recognition program follow. Three $1,000 scholarships will be given at this year's gala (one more than previous years) and a raffle during the event to support the scholarships fund. Girlvester (Sil) DeVane Anderson, the UNCW SON Alumnus of the Year will be recognized. The outstanding graduate from Cape Fear Community College will also recognize a graduate of their program, as well.
