Chapa Crowe joins UNCW to expand Service Leadership role

WILMINGTON, N.C.— Donna Chapa Crowe has been appointed director of the Center for Leadership Education and Service in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, effective July 1.
UNCW’s Center for Leadership Education is responsible for providing comprehensive leadership programming as well as community service opportunities. The center also serves as a resource and support for service learning efforts on campus.
“I enjoy various educational experiences,” Chapa Crowe said. “UNCW offered me a great opportunity both professionally and personally.
Chapa Crowe is excited about working with the students and developing more dynamic and intentional service leadership experiences for the entire UNCW community.
“I want to build upon a great UNCW foundation and commitment to leadership and service by enhancing existing activities in and outside the classroom.” In addition, “I believe my extensive experience in Service Learning will support these dynamic learning initiatives on campus.”
Chapa Crowe was in born in Newport News, Va., and holds a doctorate from Saint Louis University in Saint Louis, Mo., in higher education administration with a research emphasis in leadership education and service learning assessment.
Chapa Crowe’s most recently served as the executive director for the Campus Y Leadership and Service Center at Washington University in St. Louis. She wanted to return to the Southeast and work at a comprehensive university that is student centered.
