Adverse Weather Advisory to UNCW Faculty and Staff

Friday, September 03, 2004

To UNCW Faculty and Staff:

Though Hurricane Frances is heading towards Florida, leaving the Wilmington area safe from a direct impact, UNCW faculty and staff should be aware that severe weather may still affect our area. Significant rainfall could occur in Wilmington as the remnants of Hurricane Frances travel inland, leaving potential for flooding when added to the storms Wilmington has experienced in the past few days and is likely to experience this weekend. Though severe flooding is unlikely, please take precautions in your office in response to the potential for flooding before leaving for the holiday weekend. Please also review disaster preparedness and recovery procedures and business continuity plans as you see fit. When traveling back to UNCW next week, use caution and your best judgment if weather is hazardous. The adverse weather policy will apply, which can be found at this link: http://www.uncw.edu/sp/admproc/HR210f.htm#Adverse_Weather. Please refer to the Emergency Hotline at (910)962-3991 or toll free (888)657-5751, the UNCW homepage, @UNCW, and local media for updates and cancellations.
