UNCW Office of Campus Diversity hosting variety of speakers

Wilmington, N.C.–The University of North Carolina at Wilmington’s Office of Campus Diversity is welcoming three speakers for the fall semester.

In recognition of Hispanic Heritage month, Esmeralda Santiago, author of When I Was Puerto Rican and Almost a Woman, will address the university community at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 4 in Warwick Center Ballroom.

Leif Mitchell, author of Out on Fraternity Row: Personal Accounts of Gay Men in Fraternities, will address the campus community at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 11 in Warwick Center Ballroom. Mitchell’s lecture is co-sponsored by the campus organization PRIDE (People Recognizing Individual Differences Exist).

Cherokee leader and author Wilma Mankiller, the first female in modern history to lead a major Native American tribe, will visit UNCW at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8 in Warwick Center Ballroom. Mankiller’s visit encourages our community to recognize the achievements, contributions and rich cultures of Native Americans.
