RE: CANCELLED -- RAD Course for Female Media Oct. 11-14, UNCW Executive Development Center Northeast New Hanover Regional Library
Due to personnel reassignments and lack of response to date, the University Police is cancelling the special Rape Awareness Defense (RAD) course for women working in media outlets set for Oct. 11-14.
Two other already scheduled weekend sessions will be offered this fall, and any media who wish to attend these sessions are welcome. Other courses will be offered spring semester, and media are welcome to participate in these as well.
Session IV will be held from 1-4 p.m. Oct. 16 and 17 and Oct. 23 and 24. Session V will be held 1-4 p.m. Nov. 6 and 7 and Nov. 13 and 14. Both sessions will be held in the Student Recreation Center, Room 114.
Developed for women only, RAD is a course that has established standards of acceptability for female self-defense. It teaches tactics and techniques that are hands on and realistic in nature. This course is taught by certified instructors and comes with a workbook and a lifetime membership in the RAD system.
To register, contact Lt. Mitch Cook at the University Police Department at 910/962-7768 or 910/962-3184 or register online at http://www.uncw.edu/ba/police/pindex.htm#RAD.
