RE: Incident Information

At approximately 10:42 AM, this date, the following incident was reported to the UNCW Police Department.

A female student was jogging on Riegel Road near Wooddale Drive and a car drove alongside her. The driver pointed a handgun at the woman and told her to get in the car. The woman immediately ran away. She was not injured. The handgun was not discharged.

At approximately 12:59 PM, with the assistance of the Wilmington Police Department, Linwood Tremain Fulcher, black male, date of birth 02/11/79 was arrested at a residence located in the Campus Edge Condominiums, 450 Racine Drive.

Mr. Fulcher is being held in the New Hanover County Jail under $500,000.00 bond. This department has charged him with:

Attempted Kidnapping (felony) N.C.G.S. 14-39

Possession of a Gun on Educational Property (felony) N.C.G.S. 14-269.2

Assault by Pointing a Gun (misdemeanor) N.C.G.S. 14-34

Information does not support the involvement of additional suspects. The identity of the victim is being withheld out of reasonable concern for her safety. No further details regarding this incident or the arrest will be released by this department. Related incident reports will not be available until the afternoon of Monday, 12/20/04.
