UNCW Commencement Set for 9:45 a.m., Dec. 11, Trask Coliseum

Dec. 6, 2004The University of North Carolina Wilmington will hold its 68th commencement exercises at 9:45 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 11 at Trask Coliseum. Approximately 932 undergraduate and 226 graduate students will receive degrees.
Ceremonies for the College of Arts and Sciences and the professional schools (Cameron School of Business, Watson School of Education and the School of Nursing) will be broadcast live in their entirety by UNCW Television over the Learning Network on Time Warner Cable channel 5 and Charter Cable 12.
During the ceremony, UNCW will present honorary doctor of humanities degrees to Hugh and Julia Morton. Hugh Morton, an internationally recognized photographer, environmentalist, tourism advocate and owner of Grandfather Mountain, helped start the first Azalea Festival and was instrumental in saving and relocating the Battleship North Carolina to Wilmington. Julia Morton will be recognized for many years of dedicated service to education in this state, including three years as a UNCW trustee and 16 years as a member of the UNC Board of Governors.
Please note: The last day of university exams is Friday, Dec. 10. UNCW will be closed for the holidays beginning Friday, Dec. 24, re-opening for business Monday, Jan. 3, 2005. Spring semester classes start Wednesday, Jan. 5.
