UNCW’s Salwen Conducts Piano Master Class

Wilmington, N.C. – Barry Salwen of the University of North Carolina Wilmington Department of Music will lead a piano master class at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22 in Kenan Auditorium on the campus of UNCW.

Salwen’s piano master class is designed for students aged 12 and older, from early intermediate to advanced. The class, which is $5 per participant, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. with piano students participating from Wilmington and around the region. The public is invited to attend to listen at no charge.

Salwen, an associate professor of music at UNCW, is an international concert pianist, giving performances and master classes in the U.S., Europe, Israel and Asia. Among his nine CDs is the first recording of the complete piano music of the American master Roger Sessions. Salwen has given papers at regional, national and international music conferences and recently gave a seminar on American music at the prestigious conservatory in Freiburg, Germany, as the recipient of a Fulbright Scholar Grant.
