UNCW Invites Alumni to Homecoming 2005 Festivities Feb. 4-5

Jan. 14, 2005Wilmington, N.C.– University of North Carolina Wilmington alumni are invited to return to campus Friday and Saturday, Feb. 4-5 to celebrate Homecoming 2005. This year’s event will recognize Delta Zeta, Chi Phi and Zeta Phi Beta as well as the Class of ’95 and UNCW Student Ambassadors.
The following information is about events scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4.
The Homecoming Parade will start at 2 p.m. at Wagoner Hall. The UNCW Alumni Association Awards Banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Warwick Center ballroom and lobby. Tickets to the banquet are $20 per person. All alumni who graduated between 1994 and 2004 are invited to the Young Alumni Homecoming Party at 9 p.m. at the Seahawk Grille in the Warwick Center. The African American Graduate Association (AAGA) student-alumni social will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the University Union, Room 100. The merriment will continue at 8 p.m. with the Step Show and the Old School Jam from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. in Hanover Gym.
The following information is about events scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 5.
A walking tour of campus will begin at 11 a.m. at Westside Hall. AAGA will host a luncheon at noon in the Seahawk Grille at Warwick Center. The cost to attend is $10. The alumni pregame social is scheduled 2-3:30 p.m. in the Hawk’s Nest. Admission is $10 per person ($5 per person for donors who contribute $250 or more to the alumni association or Wise Alumni House). The Seahawks will face the Old Dominion Monarchs at 4 p.m. in Trask Coliseum. A half-time social for alumni will be held in Trask Coliseum, Rooms 117 and 119. Those unable to acquire game tickets can watch the Seahawks in action on the big screen TV at the Hawk’s Nest and join in the alumni association chapters’ social during half-time. Following the game, there will be a homecoming celebration at the Hawk’s Nest. Tickets for this event are $5 in advance and $10 at the door.
Throughout the weekend alumni may join in the “Teal Time” fun at the UNCW bookstore in the Burney Student Support Center. During the post-game celebration at the Hawks Nest, Seahawk fans can pop a balloon to receive a discount – from 10 to 50 percent – on bookstore purchases and take advantage of alumni sales and specials. The bookstore will have extended hours. The Student Recreation Center will be open throughout the weekend to alumni who register with Alumni Relations Office.
