Wilmington, N.C. – The Department of Film Studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington will present documentary filmmaker Lou Buttino at 1 p.m. Friday, March 11 in Morton Hall’s Bryan Auditorium as part of the MovieMakers lecture series. The event is free and open to the public.

Buttino, a film studies professor at UNCW, will talk about the renaissance occurring in documentary filmmaking, using clips from some of his documentaries to illustrate his points. He will also discuss his career as a documentary filmmaker.

Buttino will also show his new feature-length documentary “Broken Brotherhood: Vietnam and the Boys from Colgate” in rough cut form. Buttino uses Colgate University as a microcosm for the choices young men made regarding the Vietnam War and how their decisions impacted their lives.

Beginning in July, Buttino will serve as interim chair of the Department of Film Studies.
