Mantovanelli to discuss global poverty gap

Wilmington, N.C. – As part of the Great Decisions Discussion Program, the Political Science Department of the University of North Carolina Wilmington presents Marco Mantovanelli, the World Bank’s resident representative for the Dominican Republic, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8 in Cameron Hall Auditorium, Room 105. Mantovanelli will discuss U.S. and global poverty. The lecture is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.

Marco Mantovanelli is a member of the World Bank Poverty Reduction Board. This World Bank group seeks to support countries in adapting international experience in poverty reduction to the design of national strategies and specific interventions. He also has helped with immunization and other World Bank related health programs in Latin America

The Great Decision Discussion Program is the longest standing and largest grassroots world affairs educational program of its kind. It is the core of the Foreign Policy Association’s civic education outreach efforts, and works to bring millions of Americans together in communities across the country to discover, discuss and decide their opinions on foreign policy issues. This lecture series presents experts in foreign policy on a variety of current global affairs.
