RE: Groundbreaking ceremony for 524-bed student housing complex
Noon Thursday, April 28

As part of the upcoming UNCW Board of Trustees meetings, a groundbreaking ceremony will be held at noon Thursday, April 28 next to the Madeline Suite at Wagoner Hall.

Please join the trustees and Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo as we break ground for a $27 million student housing complex. The project, which includes six three-story apartment buildings, is the first joint public/private venture for the university. The two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments, with each student having a private bedroom with a double bed, will have a washer and dryer, a full kitchen with a dishwasher and microwave oven, dining area and living room. The complex will include a 5,000-square-foot club house with small and large group meeting areas, a business center, a kitchenette and a swimming pool.

Construction is scheduled to begin in early July 2005. Project completion is scheduled for June 15, 2006. The new apartments will take the university closer to meeting its goal of housing 40 percent of UNCW students.

We hope you can join us to cover this special occasion in the life of UNCW.
