University of North Carolina Wilmington graduate assistant, Bryan Sandala, was awarded a scholarship through the Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation. Sandala’s scholarship will cover travel and lodging for a trip to Oswiecim, Poland from June 22 through August 22 as a part of the Student Scholarship Program.

Sandala is a graduate assistant in publications/marketing for the Office of Housing and Residence Life and a current M.F.A. candidate in the Creative Writing Department. He will conduct research about the Jewish Community that existed in Oswiecim, Poland before World War II and the construction of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camps. Sandala will also create a teaching curriculum in order to teach and work with visiting international students and other visitors.
