UNCW Commencement set for 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., May 7, Trask Coliseum

Wilmington, N.C. - The University of North Carolina Wilmington will hold its 69th commencement exercises 9:30 a.m. (College of the Arts and Sciences) and 2 p.m. (professional schools) on Saturday, May 7 at Trask Coliseum. This year’s spring commencement is projected to be the largest in school history with 1,441 undergraduate and 180 graduate students scheduled to receive degrees.Ceremonies for the College of Arts and Sciences and the professional schools (Cameron School of Business, Watson School of Education and the School of Nursing) will be broadcast live in their entirety by UNCW Television over the Learning Network on Time Warner Cable channel 5 and Charter Cable 12.
During the departmental ceremony for the Watson School of Education, UNCW will present a diploma to Kate Temoney who graduated in the fall of ’74 when fall commencement did not exist. She was unable to participate in any other commencement and now, 30 years later, she will be able to walk at the departmental ceremony where she will shake Watson School of Education Dean Dr. Cathy Barlow’s hand and will receive her original diploma from her daughter, Kate E. Temoney, assistant dean of students. This will take place at the conclusion of the professional schools ceremony at about 4 p.m., in the atrium of the School of Education Building.
