UNC Wilmington Hurricane Ophelia Update

6:30p.m.EST advisory



Hurricane Ophelia has passed UNCW, and initial assessments indicate minor damage to buildings and trees on campus. The campus will remain closed Wednesday night to all faculty, staff and students. All entrances to the campus are closed and only authorized personnel will be admitted through the Randall Drive entrance.

-All classes scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005 are cancelled.

-Staff and faculty should report to work at 1:00p.m.Thursday. Essential personnel should report to work as soon as possible Thursday morning, as designated by supervisors.

-Residence halls will reopen at 2:00p.m.Thursday for returning students.

-Classes are scheduled to resume at 8:00a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2005.

As crews continue to assess the campus, we urge students, staff and faculty to monitor the www.uncw.edu website, local media and the UNCW emergency hotline (910-962-3991 or 888-657-5751) for any changes in the schedules.
