WILMINGTON, NC – The Cape Fear Alumni Chapter of the University of North Carolina Wilmington will sponsor a golf tournament to benefit the UNCW Alumni Association on Friday, Oct. 7, at Echo Farms Country Club on Carolina Beach Road.

This event is part of the “Fall Alumni Weekend” sponsored by the UNCW Alumni Association. The Cape Fear Chapter includes UNCW alumni from New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties.

The event begins with registration and lunch at 11:30 a.m.; play begins with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Teams of four amateur golfers will play in a captain’s choice format, with entries limited to the first 18 registered teams. Play will be governed by U.S. Golf Association rules.

Team sponsorships are $350 and cover the cost of 18 holes of golf, including cart and practice balls; first-, second-, third-place and other prizes; a gift bag (including a UNCW alumni T-shirt); a bagged lunch provided by Chick-fil-A; beverages on the course; a long drive contest following play; and social hour and awards dinner cookout.

The longest drive contest will follow immediately after play on the first tee. The dinner cookout and awards ceremony will start following play and is free to registered players; tickets for additional guests are $10 each. A raffle will follow the awards ceremony and dinner.
