UNCW Faculty and Students to Participate in Estuarine Research Federation Conference

By Emily Wlash, PR InternWilmington, N.C. - University of North Carolina Wilmington faculty will be participating in the upcoming Estuarine Research Federation Conference Oct. 16-20 in Norfolk, Va.
The Estuarine Research Federation (ERF) is the nation’s leading scientific society devoted to the study and management of estuaries and the effects of human activities on these fragile environments. Members of the federation include academic researchers, public sector managers, teachers, consultants, and students.
UNCW faculty presenting papers or posters include:
• Chemistry Department – professors Robert Kieber and Joan Willey, assistant professor Gene Avery, and associate professor Stephen Skrabal
• Center for Marine Science – research professor Michael Mallin, visiting marine science research assistant professor Gregg Snedden, research analyst Robert Whitehead, part-time faculty member Elizabeth Belshe and research technicians Matthew McIver, Douglas Parsons, Heather Wells and Virginia Johnson
• Biology and Marine Biology Department – professors Michael Durako, Courtney Hackney and Lawrence Cahoon, and assistant professor Thomas Lankford
• Earth Sciences Department – professor Lynn Leonard, associate professor Joanne Halls, assistant professor Douglas Gamble and research technician Alexander Croft
• Physics and Physical Oceanography Department – professor Marvin Moss
UNCW students participating are David Childers, Amanda Kahn, Matthew Koch, Lindsey Kraatz, Jennifer Landry, Jillian Buckles, Devon Olivola, and Lauren Saal.
