RE: Juan Enriquez Giving Lecture at UNCW

Media Opportunity – 1:35 p.m., Nov. 28, Warwick Center 104

Media are invited to talk with Juan Enriquez, chairman and CEO of Biotechonomy LLC, prior to his lecture on Nov. 28 at University North Carolina Wilmington in the Warwick Center Ballroom. Although the lecture is not open to the general public, media are also invited to cover the lecture at 2 p.m. This will be the only lecture by Enriquez in North Carolina.

Author of the bestseller, As the Future Catches You: How Genomics & Other Forces are Changing Your Life, Work, Health & Wealth, Enriquez is recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities on the economic and political impacts of the life sciences.

With recent biotech innovations at UNCW that link marine biology, pharmaceutical development, information sciences and grid computing, Enriquez’s visit is well-timed. His talk is being sponsored by the UNCW departments of Academic Affairs, Information Technology Systems Division, Public Service & Continuing Studies and the Office of the Chancellor.

Enriquez has previously served as CEO of Mexico City's Urban Development Corporation, coordinator general of economic policy and chief of staff for Mexico's Secretary of State. He was also a member of the Peace Commission that negotiated the cease-fire in Chiapas' Zapatista rebellion.
