UNCW Students Participate in Statewide Undergraduate Research Symposium

Wilmington, N.C. - Sixteen University of North Carolina Wilmington students will attend the 2005 statewide Undergraduate Research Symposium Nov. 12 at North Carolina State University’s Jane S. McKimmon Center. NCSU is hosting this first annual event from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than 300 students from University of North Carolina campuses, private institutions, and community colleges will make presentations representing numerous academic disciplines.

UNCW students who will be presenting include:

Jocelyn Brineman of Fayetteville, N.C., a senior psychology major; Deborah Kemp of Wilmington, N.C., a 2005 psychology graduate; Kimberly Hill of Kinston, N.C., a 2003 psychology graduate; and Lisa Spane of Mt. Airy, N.C., a senior psychology major: Nursing Home Employees and Job Satisfaction: A Social Exchange Theory Interpretation.

Denise Fournier of Davie, Fla., a senior psychology major; Phillip Hernon of Wrightsville Beach, N.C., a master of psychology student; William Lewis of Westfield, Mass., a senior psychology major; and Amanda Nobles of Wilmington, a 2005 psychology graduate: Early Childhood Events and False Memories: The Role of Compliance and Imaginal Abilities.

Phillip Herndon; William Lewis; Amanda Thayer of Wilmington, a 2005 psychology graduate; and Erin Holsinger of Davidson, N.C., a 2004 psychology graduate: The Effects of Prior Beliefs about Repressed Memories on Lay Perceptions of Recovered Memory Therapy.
