RE: Myrlie Evers Williams press opportunity

You are invited to interview civil rights activist Myrlie Evers-Williams, widow of Medgar Evers, the slain civil rights leader, at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18. She will be available for media interviews in UNCW's Trask Coliseum press room, located across from the Courtside Snack Shop.

The first woman to lead the National Association for the Advancement of Colored Persons (NAACP), Evers-Williams will be the keynote speaker for UNCW's Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18 in Kenan Auditorium. Admission to the lecture is free, but tickets are required and can be obtained at the Kenan Auditorium box office or by calling 910.962.3500 or 800.732.3643.

This event is being co-sponsored by the Wilmington Housing Authority, City of Wilmington, African American Heritage Foundation, NAACP, the MLK Ministerial Roundtable of Wilmington, UNCW Office of Campus Diversity, Women's Resource Center, and the Upperman African American Cultural Center.
