Poems by UNCW's Morling to be Featured on WHQR

Wilmington, N.C. - Garrison Keillor will read poems by Malena Morling on "The Writers Almanac," during the Feb. 20, Feb. 24 and March 3 broadcasts. The show airs at 8:32 a.m. on WHQR(91.3 FM), the local national public radio affiliate.

Morling is a new assistant professor of poetry in the University of North Carolina Wilmington department of creative writing. She has an M.F.A. from University of Iowa, an M.A. from New York University and a B.A. from Hampshire College.

She has recently published Astoria in the University of Pittsburgh Poetry Series. Previous books by Morling include Ocean Avenue: Poems For the Living & the Dead and Tomas Tranströmer, selected translations.

She is the past recipient of a Lotos Club Foundation Prize, The Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers Award, New Issues Press Poetry Prize and an Academy of American Poets Prize.
