UNCW Homecoming King and Queen Crowned

Wilmington, N.C. - Adam Wade and Adrienne Strain were crowned the 2006 UNCW Homecoming King and Queen on Jan. 28 at half-time at the men's basketball game against Northeastern University.Wade, a junior from Conway, NC, is majoring in communication studies. He's a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a UNCW Student Ambassador. He is also an orientation leader coordinator and involved with the Communications Studies Society and Public Relations Student Network.
Strain, a junior from Lynchburg, VA, is majoring in business. She works as a resident assistant and orientation leader on campus. Strain is also involved in the Seahawk Links program at UNCW.
Sylvia Watson Fisher, the first Homecoming Queen of Wilmington College (1950), was present at the crowning, as were the 2005 Homecoming King, Aaron Whitesell, and Queen, Jessica Jones.
Other members of the UNCW 2006 Homecoming court include:
Cameron W. Thomas, junior from Barbecue, NC, is studying history and education. Thomas serves as the SGA vice president and is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon. He also volunteers as a coach for New Hanover County Special Olympics, is involved in the Teaching Fellows Program, and avidly supports UNCW athletics.
James "JB" Baker, senior from Fairfield, CT, is majoring in marine biology. He is a transfer student from Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Baker works as a resident assistant in Graham Hewlett and is also working in a marine ornamental fish lab on a directed independent study. He is also very active in intramural sports on campus.
Austin Hains, senior from Huntersville, NC, is majoring in marketing with a minor in creative writing. He serves as the ACE concert chairman and was one of the founders of Team Ramrod intramural sports teams. While working part-time as a DJ, Hains has made the Dean's list every semester and continues to be a devoted UNCW Seahawk fan.
Joshua Thompson, junior from Richlands, NC, is majoring in communication studies. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
Heather Shaw, senior from Lillington, NC, is majoring in nursing. Shaw is a North Carolina Nursing Scholar and a member of Association of Nursing Students, Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Theta Tau.
Lindsey Hess, senior from Syracuse, NY, is studying accounting and finance. She is a member of the UNCW women's tennis team and an active member in Phi Mu.
Amanda Stauffer, junior from Wilmington, is majoring in parks and recreation management with minors in leadership and psychology. Amanda has made the Dean's list every semester and received the 2004 Volunteer of the Year award from the Leadership Center. She represents UNCW as a student ambassador, and is a member of Sigma Pi Co-ed National Honor Fraternity. Stauffer is the Circle K Lt. Governor of the Goldleaf Division and is involved in the Seahawk Links program.
Anne Branigin, junior from Reston, VA, is majoring in creative writing. She is a member of SGA, the UNCW chapter of the NAACP, and Amnesty International. Branigin also writes for the Atlantis and serves on the Diversity Advisory Council board and the Tuition Task Force team.
