UNCW Music Education Students to Perform Inaugural Recital

Wilmington, NC - University of North Carolina Wilmington students will perform in the inaugural Collegiate Music Educators National Conference Recital at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12 in Kenan Auditorium.The performance, which includes selections by 10 different students, is part of a service project initiative by the National Association for Music Education. "The concert not only gives students the opportunity to promote the value of music education in our schools, but it offers the public a high-quality, diverse musical program," said John Rack, MENC chapter advisor and UNCW Coordinator of Music Education.
All of the student performers are music education majors and bring talents ranging from brass and string instruments to vocal performance. The A concert features Brandon Croom (tenor saxophone), Jennifer Lancaster (alto sax), Wesley Rose (trumpet), Mallory Kwiatkowski (French horn), Katie Stephens (trombone), Meredith Trubia (flute), Ellen Parrish (voice), Marcus Suber (voice), Amanda Bunce (voice), and Kevin Palaganas (guitar). Selections range from classical works such as Mozart's Rondo in D and Beethoven's Sonata in F for Horn to more contemporary pieces such as John Harbison's "San Antonio" and Rogers and Hammerstein's "Loverly."
