RE: UNCW Fireworks Display Aug. 23
To celebrate the start of fall semester and the first day of classes next Wednesday, UNC Wilmington is holding a "Fireworks Extravaganza" at 9 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 23 at the University Gazebo near the residence halls on the east side of campus. The fireworks display is expected to last approximately 30-45 minutes.
Because the unusual sounds and light may surprise and concern some of the neighbors living around campus, we would very much appreciate your informing the public that these fireworks will occur that evening. Through the UNCW/City of Wilmington Community Relations Task Force e-mail lists, UNCW is notifying neighbors and inviting them to bring their families to enjoy the fireworks. Space limitations won't allow us to invite the general public, but media are certainly welcome to cover the event. Neighbors near campus can likely enjoy the fireworks from their homes that evening.
Thank you in advance for helping us alert the community so they will be aware of the fireworks and help to alleviate their concerns in advance.
