Established at UNCW in 1999, ITSD develops and manages quality information technology resources on campus to support institutional analysis, research and instruction. This division has advanced significantly since its inception in increasing the availability and use of technology on campus. Today, the campus enjoys wireless access, standardized "smart" classrooms and is in the process of implementing the SCT Banner software for all administrative systems. In addition to providing overall university leadership in IT, the VC oversees the departments of Application Services, A/V Media Services, Client Services, Computing Services, Telecommunications and Web Management.

UNCW Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo says, "We are delighted to have Debra join us. Her vast experience with managing IT departments, both in the higher education and corporate arenas, will allow her to bring some fresh, new perspectives to addressing our IT challenges."

Saunders-White says of being chosen for this role, "I am excited about becoming another thread in the rich tapestry called the UNCW Team. Working under the leadership of Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo will be an honor. I look forward to continuing UNCW's legacy of excellence in information technology and weaving this division's fabric to a greater form."
