UNCW's Cordle, Walters in Leadership North Carolina's Fourteenth Class

Wilmington, N.C. - Two University of North Carolina Wilmington faculty have been selected as members of the 2006-2007 class for Leadership North Carolina.David Cordle, dean of College of Arts and Sciences, and Kris Walters, clinical research program coordinator for the School of Nursing, are among 52 citizens selected from across the state as current or emerging leaders in their organizations and/or communities.
LNC Class XIV is comprised of top leaders from government, business, nonprofits and education. The class meets six times over seven months in different cities around NC and explores the most pressing issues in economic development, education, environment, government/politics, and health and human services.
Cordle has served as dean of the UNCW College of Arts and Sciences since July 2005. He earned a Doctor of Music from Florida State University. In addition, he holds a master's degree in music, piano performance, from FSU and a Bachelor of Music degree, piano performance, summa cum laude from Shorter College
Walters is currently in her second year as coordinator of the SON clinical research program, one of the first of its kind in the nation. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology, a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, a minor in genetics, and a Masters of Science degree in Management of Biotechnology from North Carolina State University. She also attended the MBA program at the University of Washington and earned a Ph.D. in Health Sciences at Touro University.
