UNCW's Trask Trek to Midnight Madness - Oct. 13

WILMINGTON, NC - The University of North Carolina Wilmington's Student Government Association is proud to announce the inaugural Trask Trek to Midnight Madness, which officially kicks off basketball season. Trask Trek begins at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13 at the Seahawk Village apartments and ends at Trask Coliseum at approximately 8:40 p.m.This program is co-sponsored by the Association for Campus Entertainment, the Residence Hall Association, and SGA.
Adrienne Strain, planner of the event and vice president of organizations for SGA said, "This event is the first event of the semester when the student body will unify in order to boost school spirit before such an important event on our campus."
UNCW mascot Sammy C. Hawk will lead the trek, which begins at the back of UNCW's campus in the Seahawk Village apartments and will end at Trask Coliseum. The group will also make stops at Wagoner Hall and in the area behind Graham and Hewlett Halls known as the Big Backyard. Students will also gather around the bronze seahawk statue in front of the Warwick Center. The program is expecting around 200 students.
Participants will be eligible for free giveaways. Prizes will include t-shirts, spirit towels, pom-poms, and water bottles.
Strain also said, "We are all so excited about the Trek and the possibility of developing this as a new tradition here at UNCW."
