Media Advisory: March 6 Session on UNCW School of Nursing to Focus on State-of-the-Art Facility

The University of North Carolina Wilmington, in conjunction with Millennium 3 Design Group, will host an information session on the construction of a new School of Nursing building at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at the Madeline Suite on the UNCW campus.In addition to building a state-of-the-art facility for nursing education, UNCW has set unique goals for the project related to economic and minority inclusion.
The session will provide information on:
• The critical need for this project related to the shortage of nurses in the state and nation
• The regional economic impact of the $30 million project
• Construction timeline and unique architectural features of the 80,000-square-foot facility
• UNCW's commitment to economic inclusion for subcontractors, contractors and vendors
• Training opportunities for contractors and subcontractors
Speakers will include Virginia Adams, dean of the School of Nursing, David Girardot, associate vice chancellor for facilities, Cheryl Sutton, coordinator of the Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Resource Center, and Anthony Hunt, architect with Millennium 3 Design Group.
