RE:

Hall Presents Mid-Year Economic Assessment and Forecast News Conference, 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 14, Center for Business and Economic Services Suite (Room 1004, Computer Information Systems Building)

Much has changed in the local economy since Dr. William W. Hall Jr., senior economist in the Center for Business and Economic Services at UNC Wilmington's Cameron School of Business, presented the center's 2007 forecast at the Third Annual Economic Outlook Conference in October 2006. At the national level, Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke sees no recession in the upcoming year, though his predecessor Alan Greenspan places the odds at one-in-three.

There have also been some significant changes in the local economy. You are cordially invited to attend a news conference at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 14, when Dr. Hall will present the center's mid-year assessment of local economic conditions and the outlook through the end of 2008.

The news conference will be held in the Center for Business and Economic Services Suite (room 1004) of the new Computer Information Systems Building. Representatives from the Cameron School will provide members of the media tours of the new building, including the Edward Jones Financial Lab, immediately following the news conference. This lab supports the building's financial markets room, a classroom and conference center equipped with investment management tools, including a stock ticker," a digital board that summarizes the day's most active stocks, and several plasma screens wired for interactive presentations.

Please access this campus map to locate the CIS Building. http://www.uncw.edu/ba/campus_map/index.htm In the tool bar at the top of the Web page, under Building Directory, click on Computer Info Systems Building. Parking will be reserved for media in a small service lot adjacent to the CIS Building. As you drive west on Price Drive, you will see the small parking lot - an attendant will be there to allow media to park there. Overflow parking will be in F lot near the Recreation Center. We hope you can join us.
