Wilmington, N.C. - More than 1,900 incoming freshmen will set up house on the campus of the University of North Carolina Wilmington from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18. Move-In 2007 will kick off with volunteer check-in at 6:15 a.m. at Wagoner Hall. Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo will speak at 6:50 a.m. A record number of 1,300 faculty, staff, student and community volunteers will work to ensure a safe, efficient and pleasant move-in experience for the new Seahawks and their families.
With the opening of the new Seahawk Landing apartment complex, UNCW will house a total of 3,481 new, transfer and returning students on campus this year, or 33 percent of the undergraduate student body. Classes for the fall 2007 semester begin Wednesday, Aug. 22. In addition to the 1,900 incoming freshmen, the university expects to have about 1,200 graduate students and a total student body of more than 11,900 on campus this semester.
