Wilmington, N.C.-UNC Wilmington Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo will chair the 2007 United Way Campaign, and will announce more than $1 million in campaign pledges at the 2007 campaign kickoff event.

WHEN: 6:15-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13 (program to being promptly at 6:45 p.m.)

WHERE: Airlie Gardens

WHAT: Andy White, president of GE Nuclear and 2006 campaign chair, will welcome and introduce Dr. DePaolo, who will make opening remarks as 2007 campaign chair. Other activities will include:

• Presentation of more than $1 million in campaign pledge checks by nine local corporations

• Drum performance by at-risk youth program from DREAMS Center for Arts Education in Wilmington, which is funded by United Way.

• All local human service agencies invited from Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender counties

PHOTO OPS:

• DePaolo and White as two local leaders and campaign chairs

• Presentation of nine corporate checks representing more than $1 million in campaign pledges

• DREAMS students performing for local dignitaries, community leaders
