Leadership Lecture Series Continues with Azar Nafisi

Wednesday, October 10, 2007

Wilmington, N.C. - Azar Nafisi, author of the best-selling Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books, will speak at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22 in UNCW's Kenan Auditorium. The book is an electrifying account of the Islamic revolution in Iran and how it affected one university professor and her seven female students as they studied literary classics in the privacy of Nafisi's home while the world around them crumbled.

A publishing sensation, Nafisi's book has spent more than two years on the New York Times bestseller list as the author has become internationally recognized for her advocacy on behalf of Iran's intellectuals, youth, and women. An audience Q&A session and book signing will follow the lecture. Co-sponsored by Academic Affairs, Katherine Buckner Lecture Series, Women's Resource Center, the Graduate School and GSA.

Tickets are free for UNCW students, faculty and staff and $9 for all others. For tickets and information, visit or call Kenan Box Office at 910.962.3500 or www.uncw.edu/presents.
