150 Senior Adults to Cut Loose with UNC Wilmington Students at Valentine's Dance Feb. 11

Thursday, January 29, 2009

The Valentine's Day love will start early this year when 150 local senior citizens and more than 100 University of North Carolina Wilmington students socialize and dance together at the 15th annual Young at Heart Social.

All local seniors are invited to wear their formal attire to this free event from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb.11, 2009 in the Burney Center. In addition to dancing to live Big Band music, seniors can win door prizes, take "prom pictures," enjoy refreshments and enjoy youthful companionship. No senior will be without a Valentine.

Sponsored by the UNC Wilmington Center for Leadership Education and Service (CLES), Young At Heart is a UNCW tradition that invites local seniors living in private residences and personal care facilities, such as Oakdale Heights and Clare Bridge of Wilmington, to savor an evening of carefree entertainment.

Media are encouraged to promote this event to the public prior to the event. Community members interested in participating or volunteering can call the CLES office at 910.962.3877. Parking will be available in Lot M on the UNCW campus, near the Burney Center at the intersection of Price Drive and Riegel Road.

Media are also invited to attend this fun event for interview and visual opportunities. Beginning at 3:30 p.m. prior to the event, media are invited to capture the event set up.
