Multicultural Students to Showcase Diversity at UNC Wilmington Jan. 16

Monday, January 12, 2009

Multicultural student organizations at the University of North Carolina Wilmington will share a flavor of their individuality at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2009 in the Burney Center.

The community is invited to enjoy a free evening of cultural customs, food and an international fashion show.

Sponsored by the UNC Wilmington Campus Activities & Involvement Center (CAIC), the Welcome to Our World multicultural showcase will educate the community about the numerous opportunities to support multiculturalism locally. The evening will include live music by DJ Big B, a concert by reggae musicians Mystic Vibrations, and a dance performance from Physical Graffiti and the local Boys and Girls Club.

The Black Student Union, Indian Culture Association and PRIDE (People Recognizing Individual Difference Exist) are a sampling of student groups who will be sharing their culture.

Media are invited to publicize and attend the event. Interviews with student leaders will be available prior to and at the event.
