UNC Wilmington to Stir Up the Melting Pot with the 16th Annual Intercultural Week, Feb. 9-14

A rich diversity of cultures will be celebrated during the 16th annual University of North Carolina Wilmington Intercultural Week (iWeek) Feb. 9-14, culminating in a community- wide intercultural festival (iFest) 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14 in the Burney Center.
All ages are invited to attend iFest, which will include music, dance, food, handcrafts, traditional clothing and cultural displays showcasing the cultures of countries around the world. The UNC Wilmington Office of International Programs and UNCW Presents are hosting the event.
All iWeek events – including films, documentaries, art exhibits, live performances, workshops, panel discussions, formal lectures, food tours and numerous other educational opportunities – are free unless otherwise noted. The theme for this year, "Global Mobility: Immigration, Economic Development and Cultural Identities," focuses on the some of the most complex challenges facing the world.

Journey around the globe as the campus transforms lobbies into a variety of countries.
8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 12, Cultural Arts Building, SRO Theatre
"Persians" is a performance of stunning imagery, text, sound, movement and dance that follows a young woman who escapes Iran and comes to America. Tickets will be sold at the door.
11 a.m.- 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 14, Burney Center
iFest will explore the cultures of around 25 cultural organizations and countries
