UNC Wilmington Welcomes Diverse Artists for Summer Nights under the Stars Concert Series in June

An exciting lineup of diverse musical artists will headline this year's Summer Nights under the Stars concert series, presented Saturday nights in June by the University of North Carolina Wilmington's Division of Public Service and Continuing Studies.
From romantic piano music to classic rock and roll to a celebration of the lyrics and literature of 20th century black America, Summer Nights offers something for everyone. All concerts will be held indoors in the Cultural Arts Building Theatre on the UNCW campus, with a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception at 7 p.m., followed by the performance at 7:30 p.m.

June 6, Soul Serenade with Grenoldo Frazier and Rhonda Bellamy
The lyrics and literature of 20th century black America come alive in a cultural timeline culled from an extensive repertoire of poetry, prose and song.
June 13, Go Back in Time with the Port City Trio
Old standards and new originals make this timeless threesome a Wilmington treasure, performing the music of Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and other recognizable favorites from the 1920s, '30s and '40s.
June 20, A Summer Evening of Romantic Piano Music
Enjoy the talents of pianists Elizabeth Loparits and Juan-Pablo Andrade as they play the beautiful melodies of Chopin, Grieg, Rachmaninoff and Gershwin's An American in Paris.
June 27, The Schoolboys
Take a fun spin through classics of rock and roll performed with soulful twists and rich harmonies by this five-member UNCW faculty band. Songs made famous by James Taylor, the Doobie Brothers, Chuck Berry, Creedence Clearwater Revival and many others will be featured, with dancing and singing along strongly encouraged.
Summer Nights under the Stars is sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UNCW, and OLLI members are able to purchase tickets at a discount. Tickets per performance are $18 for OLLI members and $28 for non-members. Season tickets are $69 for members and $99 for non-members.
