Youth Paint Environment with Local Artists at UNC Wilmington ArtSea Camp

Local artists will teach youth how to artistically express their feelings about the environment during the University of North Carolina Wilmington's first ArtSea camp experience.On Wednesday, July 15, and Thursday, July 16, media will have access to artists instructing youth in mediums ranging from metal sculpting to sand casting. Students will showcase their resulting artwork at the ArtSea Show, 1 - 2 p.m. Friday, July 17.
At UNC Wilmington ArtSea, MarineQuest's newest summer academic enrichment program, students ages 12 to 16 learn artistic techniques from artists inspired by our surrounding marine environment.
Participating youth hail from California, Georgia, Maryland and North Carolina. Some of the local artists participating as program mentors include metal sculpture Dumay Gorham, painters Andrea Dingeldein and Abby Spangle Perry and Peggy Cleary, who specializes in linoleum block printing/mosaics/public art.

1 - 2 p.m. Friday, July 17: ArtSea Student Show, UNCW Cultural Arts Building lobby
