UNC Wilmington Monitoring Hurricane Bill; Rip Currents Possible

As of noon, Wednesday, August 19, UNC Wilmington is monitoring Hurricane Bill. The storm is currently a Category 4 hurricane, and is NOT projected to make landfall within the United States. Projections indicate that Bill will pass between 200 and 800 miles east of the North Carolina coast in the Atlantic Ocean, creating high surf and extreme rip currents Friday and Saturday of this week.Individuals should use caution when at the beach.
