Areas Flooding on Campus; Exercise Caution When Traveling Wednesday
Wednesday, December 02, 2009
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for New Hanover County through 3:30 p.m. TODAY. UNCW classes and events are running on a regular schedule.Students, faculty and staff should exercise caution when traveling to and from campus, as well as through the campus. Areas that have already flooded include the intersection of Reynolds Drive and Cahill, which is passable for vehicles but difficult for pedestrians, and Parking Lots H and I near the Cultural Arts Building. In those lots near the retention ponds, water has already accumulated up to the floor boards of vehicles.
Other parking lots prone to flooding include Seahawk Landing and Parking Lot E. The Parking Office suggests relocating your vehicle to Parking Lot S or Parking Lot M to avoid problems with flooding. Other campus roadways that may be impacted by flooding are New Centre Drive, Wagoner Drive near Kenan Auditorium and Hurst Drive near Parking Lot K.
