Record Number to Turn Their Tassels at UNC Wilmington December Commencement

A record number of fall and summer University of North Carolina Wilmington graduates will begin a new chapter in their lives December 12, 2009. During the 78th* commencement exercises, 1,342 undergraduate and 387 graduate students are projected to receive degrees.Students of the graduate school and professional schools will prepare to turn their tassels beginning at 9:30 a.m., and College of Arts and Sciences undergraduates will march into their ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Both ceremonies will be held in Trask Coliseum. Guests must present tickets in order to attend any of the commencement ceremonies.
Extra tickets will be dispersed at the Trask Coliseum box beginning one hour prior to each ceremony. Early arrival is advised, as tickets are limited. The general public is advised to avoid university entrances, as surrounding traffic may be heavy. Visitors will park in lot K.
By request, media can capture commencement set-up beginning the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 8 and/or interview a December nursing graduate who is a mother and the wife of an injured veteran. Live coverage opportunities are available.
