Sustainability Week, Earth Day at UNC Wilmington Offer Green Fun

Sustainability Week and Earth Day will be celebrated at the University of North Carolina Wilmington until April 22. The events focus on a commitment to social, economic and environmental sustainability. All events are free and the community is invited to attend.
2 - 4 p.m., Friday, April 16, Kickin' Campus Butts, meet at Campus Commons
Cigarette butt clean-up and storm water protection service day with the Cape Fear and UNCW Surfrider organizations.
9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, April 17, UNCW Surfrider Beach Clean-Up – Carolina Beach Sweep, meet at the Pavilion on the Boardwalk
Enjoy free food and a local art show at the Carolina Beach Gazebo after a beach clean with the UNCW Surfrider group.
7 p.m., Sunday, April 18, Free Movie: Redfish Can't Jump, Lumina Theater
Enjoy this action-packed documentary filmed and produced in Wilmington, highlighting North Carolina's inshore fishery.
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, Zullo Memorial Lecture, CIS Building, room 1008
Stanley Riggs, Distinguished Research Professor at East Carolina University, will present the Zullo Memorial Lecture entitled "North Carolina Coasts In Crisis: Climate Change, Sea-Level Rise and Storms." Riggs is available for media interviews by request prior to the event.
11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, Sustainability Fair, Campus Commons (in front of the Fisher Student Center)
Organizations, departments and business from the campus and community will come together to share information about how we can all be more sustainable.
7 p.m., Thursday, April 22, Free Movie: Home, Lumina Theater
This film contains footage from more than 50 countries across the globe and shows the impact humans have had on the earth.
