UNC Wilmington Photography Club Presents “Pristine/Pollution” Exhibit for Earth Day
Wednesday, April 21, 2010
The Bluethenthal Wildflower Preserve at the University of North Carolina Wilmington will host “Pristine/Pollution,” an exhibit of student photographs contrasting the beauty of nature with the destruction of polluted landscapes. The outdoor exhibit will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22.The exhibit, sponsored by the UNCW Photography Club, will hang from trees on the preserve’s nature trail, located in the center of campus behind the Fisher University Union and the Hawk’s Nest. Photographs in the exhibit will be mounted on recycled cardboard and strung to trees with hemp cord.
“We hope to make a statement about the state of the environment and to encourage people to get outside,” said club president Nate Oxenfeld. “We want to celebrate the beauty of nature and the unfortunate impact humans are having on it. We encourage everyone to take some time on Earth Day to get out in the woods and observe some beautiful student photography.”
Photos from the exhibit can also be viewed online at www.flickr.com/groups/uncwphotoclub.
