Fashion Show: Seahawk Spirit and Social Responsibility to be Showcased by National Clothing Line at UNCW

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

The University of North Carolina Wilmington will host a fashion show that mixes school spirit with social responsibility from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22 in the UNCW Bookstore. Rachel Weeks, the designer and founder of School House, will present her fall collection and accept student input for her next UNCW collection. This event is free and open to the public.

School House is an environmentally conscious and socially responsible fashion brand designed for trend-seeking students who want to show off their school spirit while promoting sustainability. All products are manufactured in a designated living wage garment factory in Sri Lanka. School House pays the women two to three times more than other manufacturers in the country.

Weeks' ethical designs have appeared in Teen Vogue and are gaining national momentum. This fall, School House is introducing its new collection in 42 bookstores through a partnership with Barnes and Noble College Booksellers. UNC Wilmington's recent adoption of the brand is another way the university is practicing sustainability.

Everyone attending the fashion show will have the chance to win up to $150 in merchandise. Tickets can be obtained at the UNCW Bookstore. For more information on School House, visit http://www.shopschoolhouse.com/.
