UNC Wilmington to Host Major Conference of Higher Education Banner Software Users Oct. 4-5

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Creativity, innovation and technology savvy will come together at the University of North Carolina Wilmington when it hosts the 10th annual Mid Atlantic Banner Users Group (MABUG) conference Sunday-Tuesday, Oct. 4-5 in the Burney Center.

MABUG is an association of colleges and universities that use SunGard Banner® Digital Campus,  a collegiate administrative suite of student, financial aid, finance, human resources, and advancement systems used by more than 900 institutions worldwide. At the conference, representatives from member schools will discuss best practices and share ideas for increased productivity and efficiency in the use of Banner systems.

The conference will also feature a vendor fair for participants, with vendors such as Dell and Hewlett-Packard demonstrating their latest technologies. UNCW faculty members Ron Vetter and Jeff Brown will showcase their company, Mobile Education LLC, which provides text message applications to campuses such as bus schedules, movie times, campus dining menus, grade retrieval, coupons and even a scavenger hunt game.

UNCW is the first UNC system university to host the conference.
