UNCW Classes CANCELLED Tonight, Sept. 29, if Begin At or After 5 p.m.; University on Normal Schedule Tomorrow

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

Posted at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29: Because the ground is saturated and flash flood warnings are being issued periodically, and because the National Weather Service forecast calls for significantly more rain and gale force winds, classes and events that begin at or later than 5 p.m. today are cancelled.

While we value the importance of class time, student safety is even more important. The library, rec center and other campus life facilities will remain open this evening.

The Adverse Weather Policy remains in effect for faculty and staff. Staff working either the evening or night shift should report as scheduled. The normal class schedule will resume on Thursday morning.

As conditions warrant, status updates will be posted on the UNCW website, www.uncw.edu/alert and the UNCW Alert Emergency Information Hotline at 910.962.3991 or 888.657.5751. In the meantime, please seek updated weather information from local media. For more safety information on flooding: https://sites.google.com/site/uncwalert/flood
