UNCW Seahawks Are Invited to Fly Home for Family & Alumni Weekend 2010

Seahawks from across North Carolina and beyond are invited to fly home to the University of North Carolina Wilmington for a weekend of reunions and fun Oct. 15-17.

During the annual Family & Alumni Weekend, UNC Wilmington alumni and families of students can reminisce about the good ol' days and enjoy all that life at UNCW has to offer today. Seahawks of all ages can reunite with old friends and meet new ones at alumni reunions, family social gatherings, musical performances, academic discussions, campus tours and sports and recreation activities, including the Midnite Madness celebration.

Registration for all events is available online until Oct. 13 at www.uncw.edu/registerfaw. Key event details are below.

Friday, Oct. 15:
UNCW Alumni & Parents Welcome Reception - 6 p.m., Burney Center
Alumni and parents are invited to enjoy music, food and drinks while connecting with administrators, faculty and staff. This event is for alumni and parents only. Limited amount of tickets are available on-site. Tickets are $10 each and include hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine. Walk-ups are allowed for this event, but space is limited so pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

Midnite Madness - 9:30 p.m., Trask Coliseum

All Seahawk fans are welcome to Midnite Madness, the long-standing UNCW tradition that officially kicks off to the 2010-11 basketball seasons. The pep rally event includes student games and contests, spirit group performances and team introductions.

Saturday, Oct. 16:
Golden Wing Society Reunion - 10:30 a.m., Madeline Suite
Wilmington College classmates from 1947-60 are invited for a complimentary brunch and guided trolley tour of UNCW to celebrate achieving and exceeding their 50 year alumni status.

UNCW Family Picnic - 11:30 a.m., Campus Commons

Alumni, parents and students are invited to join the Seahawk family for a day of fun and food. A limited number of tickets are available onsite. Ticket prices are $10 for general alumni, family and friends, $5 for children under 10 and free for UNCW students with a meal plan and picnic ticket.

UNCW Past, Present & Future Presentation with Ty Rowell – 2 p.m., Randall Library Auditorium

The Seahawk community is invited enjoy UNCW historian Ty Rowell's presentation detailing UNCW's growth from Wilmington College to one of the top institutions in the Southeast. Admission is free, but registration is encouraged.

Legacy Pinning Ceremony - 4 p.m., Burney Center
The UNCW Alumni Association invites freshmen and transfer students with a parent, grandparent or sibling who attended UNCW to join us for a formal pinning ceremony to commemorate making UNCW a family legacy. The ceremony will include complimentary photos, snacks and refreshments. This invitation-only event is free, but registration is required.

Young Alumni Reunion - 7 p.m., Burney Center

Members of UNCW Classes 2000 through 2010 are invited to an evening of reminiscing and reuniting. Tickets t are $15 each and include hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer and live music from Machine Gun.
