Open Forums to be Held By Chancellor Search Committee on Dec. 1
Monday, November 22, 2010
The University of North Carolina Wilmington Chancellor Search Committee invites the community to participate in open forums on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m. Constituents at the forums will have the opportunity to provide input on the characteristics and qualities needed in the next UNC Wilmington Chancellor.
Soliciting public comment and ideas is an important early step in identifying potential candidates to succeed Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo, who announced last month that she will retire June 30, 2011. Information gathered at the forums will help the16-member Chancellor Search Committee select the best chancellor candidates, with the goal of recommending finalists to the UNCW Board of Trustees in April 2011.
In order to include as many constituents as possible, public forums will be held simultaneously in three area counties at 6:30 p.m. at the following locations:
- New Hanover County - UNCW Burney Center - directions here
- Onslow County - Coastal Carolina Community College, C. Louis Shields Learning Resource Center (Main Library) room 201 - directions here
- Brunswick County - Brunswick Community College Economic and Workforce Development Center in Leland, room 204 - directions here
Starting in December, individuals will have the opportunity to provide additional comments online and through the mail. All written comments will become part of the public record of the search process.
NOTE: Brunswick and Onslow media who plan to attend and cover the forums at satellite locations will need to set up interviews with the search committee representative through the media contact person listed below, because the committee spokesperson will not be in attendance at these sites.
