UNCW to Show 2010 Sundance Audience Award Winner “Contracorriente” (Undertow) Nov. 11

The Peruvian film "Contracorriente" (Undertow), winner of the 2010 Sundance Audience Award, will be show at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 11 in Lumina Theater at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The showing is free and open to the public.Peru’s official submission to the 83rd Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, "Undertow" presents the emotional intersection of contemporary sexuality confronted by tradition and belief, set against sweeping images of the beautiful Peruvian coastline. This showing of "Undertow," sponsored by UNCW’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning, Intersex and Allied (LGBTQIA) Resource Office, is taking place in Wilmington before the film's official opening in New York and Los Angeles.
