Visiting Writer John Jeremiah Sullivan to Read at UNC Wilmington, November 18

John Jeremiah Sullivan, acclaimed editor, writer and visiting professor, will read from his work at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Room 111 Kenan Hall.

The reading is sponsored by the Department of Creative Writing and is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.

Sullivan is the author of Blood Horses: Notes of a Sportswriter’s Son. A longtime contributor to such magazines as GQ, Harper’s, the Oxford American and Salon, he is currently writer-at-large for GQ and southern editor for the Paris Review.

His articles, which range in subject from Michael Jackson to the Katrina-ravaged Gulf Coast, have earned him the National Magazine Award for Feature Writing and a Whiting Award. His music writings have been included in such anthologies as The Oxford American Book of Great Music Writing, Best Music Writing 2009 and Heavy Rotation: Twenty Writers on the Albums That Changed Their Lives.
